They may be small, but our new solar panels are certainly powerful! They provide enough energy to light our blubs and charge our computers and cell phones, enabling our volunteers on the ground to stay connected to those supporting the project from back in Canada. A huge thanks to Paul Bade of Germany for making this happen and to all those who donated towards the purchase of the solar panels. Life in Kibombomene will never be the same!

In addition to our recently started kindergarten classes, we have now established a breakfast club so that the kids will have the energy to last through the three-hour lessons. The Breakfast Club provides each of the children - most of whom walk nearly 2 km to get to the school - with a healthy breakfast of milk, peanut butter, a boiled egg and fruit. The Breakfast Club is so popular that the number of children at our kindergarten classes is now at 52 and growing fast! We are currenlty looking for a sponsor for the Breakfast Club, so please contact us if you would be interested in making sure the children start their lessons with a full stomach!

Co-ounders Marissa Izma and Kimberly Hurley (of Stratford, Ontario, Canada) have devoted their lives to this project. Motivated by love, they believe that education is the best means to achieve positive and great change in developing countries [meet the Co-Founders].
Progress is underway - with five classrooms, a staff house with five rooms, and 40,000 bricks ready for further buildings. Our organic farm is in the ground, and we are now growing cabbage, rape, onions and green beans, with more vegetables on the way! [project details].
We have created a 14-member Zambian Board that is involved in all decision-making aspects to ensure our project is built for the community by the community [meet the Zambian Board].
We feel that sustainability is an essential part of community development. That's why a range of sustainable practices are being integrated, such as collecting rain water, sourcing energy from solar panels, and installing compostable toilets [read about our principles].
Our project is supported by schools, organizations, and motivated individuals in our community who want to make a difference. We are always looking for new partnerships and connections - so get on board and participate! [details].
